bug-eating is fine and not stupid, but “Real ants. REAL FLAVOUR.” is an objectively funny catchphrase idky

I’d try it. Bugs will never be my preferred choice of protein, but I’ve had a few insect based foods and once you get over the mental shock of it… really not bad.
They tend to have a dry, almost dusty taste on their own, so they’re often paired with strong flavors. I’d bet you probably don’t actually taste much ant behind the heat of the sauce.

I prefer bacon bits but who am I to judge!

I had the pleasure of trying ant egg (escamoles) tacos in Mexico- a delicacy and such a treat. Would 100% eat them again! If I ever see them on a menu I will order them without question!

Not stupid. Ants have a wide variety of flavors that can work well in a hot sauce. They are going to be pureed so you won’t get any little bits, and the only reason you think it’s stupid is because it isn’t culturally normal where you are from. Bugs and ants are eaten all over the world.

I will not eat the bugs

I’d be chewing this sauce just to make sure. . .

The ads pop up on Reddit for me from time to time and they leave the comments enabled. Guess the guy finally learned to stop engaging after the last one BLEW up because he was defending his product.

The guys who make it are super defensive and cringe about it too. Look at the comments on their Reddit adds and you’ll see them cry over even the smallest bit of criticism or questions
Cleaner900playz
making a post like this is exactly what they’d do, they even made reddit ads and actually looked at the comments

I bought some ants that were crunchy but flavorless. I understand that some ants have good flavor. I’d like to read a review of this sauce that wasn’t from the company.

The dude doing the promo on here was a douche canoe so I said I’d never try the sauce

It’s actually pretty good.

There’s a difference between stupid and outside your cultural norms and comfort. The formic acid in ants is tangy and they’re eaten in Mexican cuisine so this seems pretty logical as a combo. While it’s still a novelty to a lot of us, novelties aren’t automatically stupid

Probably made with fire ants
(you see, the joke is that fire ants should be hot because of how they’re named)

La Pimenterie makes an ant-based hot sauce as well.

So if you’re trying to buy Canadian, but still want to eat ants, good news?
I admire the gluten free labeling.
